APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Application methods vary significantly depending on whether you are renewing a surface, building a structure, or sealing a slab.
1. Decorative Resurfacing (Spray-on Concrete)
This 4-day process uses a polymer-modified cementitious coating to “facelift” existing driveways or patios.

* Step 1: Preparation & Cleaning: Clean the surface thoroughly using a high-pressure washer (typically 4000 PSI+) or acid etching. Repair all cracks with epoxy fillers or “stitch-welding” to prevent them from showing through the new layer.
* Step 2: Priming & Base Coat: Apply a primer to ensure a strong bond, followed by a trowelled-on “base coat”. This layer establishes the “grout line” colour if using stencils.
* Step 3: Stencilling & Spraying: Lay out heavy-duty paper stencils (e.g., brick or tile patterns) over the dry base coat. Use a hopper gun and air compressor to spray the decorative “top coat”.
* Step 4: Finishing & Sealing: Remove stencils once touch-dry. After cleaning away loose particles, apply two coats of high-quality acrylic sealer to protect against UV fading and stains.

2. Structural Construction (Shotcrete)
Shotcrete involves projecting concrete at high velocity onto a surface, often reinforced with steel mesh.

* Dry Mix Method: Dry ingredients (cement and aggregate) are blown through a hose. Water is added manually by the operator at the nozzle just before impact. This offers precise control over water content but creates more dust.
* Wet Mix Method: Fully mixed wet concrete is pumped to the nozzle, where compressed air is introduced to propel it. This method is preferred for large-volume projects like tunnel linings because it is faster and generates less “rebound” (waste material that bounces off the wall).

3. Applying Sealers & Coatings (Industrial Sprayer)
For maintenance, industrial sprayers are used to apply protective chemicals or curing compounds.

* Technique: Hold the nozzle perpendicular to the surface and work in thin, overlapping layers to prevent pooling.
* Back-Rolling: Immediately follow the spray with a foam roller (the “spray and back roll” method) to ensure even penetration and eliminate bubbles.
* Conditions: Apply when temperatures are between 7 C and 30 C. Avoid windy or humid conditions, which can lead to sealer failure.

Material is applied in an even manner so as not to cause puddles and brush marks. Brush out any puddles that may have formed due to excess material or reduced absorptivity.
